Seeing a Kennedy in Person
I was at a hearing on the Hill earlier this morning and one of the witnesses called to testify was Robert Kennedy, Jr. who is one of the foremost outspoken environmentalists in the country. It was great to see him in person. His mother was also present and acknowledged. It is great that he is an environmentalist and that he can lend his name to bring attention to something as uninteresting as stream buffer regulations that have been re-written by the outgoing administration that will have devastating effects of decimated our water ways as they walk out the door. He spoke so passionately about the subject and was so knowledgeable about the subject it was great to just listen to him talk. However, because of his passion he was not the most articulate at times stumbling on some of his words and there is great advantage to not becoming so worked about while testifying before Congress. I would like to hear him talk again in some other setting to make sure his voice is his voice. He sounded kind of weird but I am not sure whether that was because he was under the weather or if he actually sounded like that. I think that there are certain things that come with being a Kennedy regardless of whether or not you act like the most normal place on earth. He I am sure went over his time but was not interrupted as quickly as someone else. The Capitol police also went to great lengths to help him track down the cab that took off with his luggage that I am sure they would not have otherwise gone to if it were not for his last name. I wish I could be that passionate about the environment. Or I wish I could meet someone who inspired me so to do better and be better like he did! And of course it wouldn’t hurt to marry into a family such as theirs! That would be icing on the cake. Right now I would settle for having a similar illustrious career.
