Thanksgiving

Published by hockeychic2003 at 10:03 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

Happy Thanksgiving! There is much to be thankful for this year! Despite the sad state of the economy I am very thankful I have my friends and family around me, I am thankful I still have a job and a roof over my head, I am thankful that can afford the simple things in life like food and the necessities that so many people cannot afford.  I am also thankful that I am in good health and that all the other people I love and care about are as well.

After hitting the gym on Tuesday night I for whatever reason felt like hell and that I came down with something.  It was either a cold or I am allergic to running.  I haven’t quite decided which one yet so I went to bed fairly early and woke up with an extremely sore throat which led me to take the morning off just to catch my bus home.  Initially I was also trying to make my lunch date with C but that ended up not happening since I would have been running around with a lot of crap and by 11am I was by no way ready. I ended up taking the bus home which seemed like it was going to be okay but we were stuck in horrible traffic.  I boarded the bus at 1pm in Washington and didn’t end up back in NYC until closer to 8.  Needless to say it was a very LONG ride and not quite sure if that’s want I want to take on the way back! Luckily home was nice and I decompressed and ate dinner after my internal balance was shifted back into gear.   I felt kind of sick being stuck on the bus for so long since quarters were really cramped.  Thankfully they placed the office which made a couple of hours go by quicker and then I watched an hour of Who Killed the Electric Car which made time go by a little quicker.

Today was a good day though.  Woke up from a decent night’s sleep and watched the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade! One year I’ll take my niece to it but it involves getting up fairly early which one has to get motivated to do.   Then we went to my grandmother’s house so it was nice seeing extended family.    And then my sister and her family came over for Thanksgiving dinner.  I love my niece ad my nephew but I am sometimes glad to see them go.  My niece is easier to handle now since she talks and is fairly self sufficient but my nephew who is 2 now still screeches which is a little muh sometimes.  Anyway,….overall nothing too exciting,…..there was some football watching–both games today were blow outs–Detroit and TN and Seattle and the Dallas which was not that interesting and then we watched a little of Charlie Brown which is traditional.  Now unwinding and probably going to sleep early.  But very thankful that we can afford things like Thanksgiving dinner and not having to go hungry in such tough economic times.  I am still sort of up in the air as how to return to Washington, DC.   I don’t know whether I can stomach a bus trip,…uhh now I remember why I don’t do it! But will try to see some of NYC before I leave! I can’t decide what I want to do though.
