The Presidential Debate #2
Instead of going to a bar to watch the Presidential debate I was home watching the TV and trying to do other things at the same time like go through a pile of receipts that I had sitting on my coffee table trying to account where all my money gets squandered by yours truly and getting depressed about the state of the economy as I watched Obama and McCain go at it in tonight’s Presidential debate in a townhall setting. All I can say is that on television seeing the two of them I do not and cannot see how you can actually want to vote for McCain. He is not any way shape or form someone who comes to my mind as being Presidential. With every day that passes I can see Obama becoming more and more so. McCain is one of those people who to me just looks creepy and sounds creepy the way he talks. The folksiness of his voice when he says my friends. Don’t pretend we are friends! We’re not friends! And how he moves around and is kind of smirking. How can anyone think that he’s Presidential! I don’t get it. I can see what Michelle Obama saw in Barack all those years ago but I honestly cannot see what Cindy McCain sees in John. He to me is the epitome of the angry old man. He is has not aged well and the last thing we need is for him to get angry and start another war! He doesn’t even seem like Commander in Chief material to be honest even though he has gone on and on about how much experience he has with the military and is ready to lead this country in a time of war. He just doesn’t seem level headed and even handed!
I still don’t get why people elected Bush to become President twice as a matter of fact! Presidential politics is a little akin to dating–you sometimes really wonder what other people see in someone. There are many people out there who vote for someone who they think that they can go have a drink with and not the smartest guy in the room. I would rather go for the smartest guy in the room. I am drawn to people who have energy and drive and who have vision and want to accomplish things and make the world a better place. For those reasons I am drawn to Obama and sincerely want him to win. McCain set forth no reason for me to vote for him. He did sound articulate in the end but he never once told the American people what kind of vision he has for this country and what he stands for. Yes we all understand that he wants to serve and he likes serving his country but what are you for and what are you about? He points to the fact that he has a record of getting things done and changing things. Yes, he has worked with people from both sides of the aisles to try to change things but a lot of times not for the better! He has been one of the longest serving Senators but what has he actually done about the energy crisis besides fighting against increasing gas mileage and not supporting alternative energy. He has not helped solve the problems the country faces but instead has helped create them! Anyway,…I could go on and on about this but I won’t. Hopefully this year the guy I want to win will actually win and perhaps I will meet a guy sometime in the near future that I actually like and that is truly and honestly single! (And is politically inclined since I think I would make a great campaign manager and an amazing first lady! ; ) )
