Know it alls
Have you ever met a guy that thought he was a know it all? Someone who just liked to hear themselves talk for the sake of talking? Someone who just gave you the impression that they thought very highly of themselves and just wanted you to listen to them talk? Well,….they seem to be the norm in this town and yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting another one of them at a happy hour at Darlington House. He tried to lecture me on politics–I don’t quite know what he thought I was? I’m not sure if I look like I was dumb but he kept going on and on about something politically related so I went off on a semi-tirade and illustrated the fact that I actually knew what I was talking about having watched both the Democratic and the Republican National Convention. Granted this guy and his friend were kind of nerdy but that is no way to try to pick up women! Talking down to them doesn’t work! It just gets me really mad!!! I especially hate when you try to tell me what I should be thinking. I have opinions of my own. If you want someone to worship the ground you walk on and accept your opinions like they were the word of God then perhaps you should looks elsewhere. This is the reason many men date women who are significantly younger than they are. I get it! Then he was hinting that his friend was in search of a girlfriend. I am sure his friend may indeed be a really nice guy but he was also kind of on the heavier side. And maybe he does in actuality have a very charming personality but let’s just say I am not quite sure when he last went to visit a gym. Perhaps he is just on the heavier side which is also fine,…but I work out three to five times a week–do you think you can keep up?? I think guys in this town think women must be desperate for a guy sometimes because I feel like they think they are in the same league as the women they go after and they clearly are not. My friend and I were both cute and in much better shape than these two guys. Granted the girl I was with is friendly and chatty but seriously???? If either of them were interesting and had more of a personality that would have been fine but they did not. Where are the nice interesting guys in this city?? They seem to be lacking! There was this other guy who came up to me and yes he was probably shy since he had a hard time making eye contact with me and kept talking to my friend and I was not interested at all so I made no real attempt to carry on the conversation after he basically kept insulting me left and right. He was inquiring about our schedules since we were both there to staff an event. He said he had never seen me before and inquired about my ethnicity and had asked then upon finding out that I was Chinese whether I had gone to Chinese school. I had when I was younger but wanting to end the conversation I said no and then he made a comment about my parents wanting to Americanize me which I found insulting. We are in America are we not? And he eventually went on his way. I am Chinese American and I am proud of that fact but just because we are both Chinese does not mean I want to date you and that does not mean we have anything else in common besides that. I have never belonged to an ethnic clique and I don’t care to do so now either. I hate guys who are like that too! Of course he wasn’t remotely attractive and he was shorter than I was and kind of creepy so I was highly turned off. I have no problem dating Asian men if I found someone who was compatible with and who I was attracted to but most Asian men tend to fit the stereo type which is why I don’t like them! The nicest guy at this place was the married manager and he has to be nice to me. However, it was not a complete loss considering I discovered a new place to go visit and I got to catch up with my friend. The highlight of my night was when I was walking out I ran into my building manager he said I looked great and asked where I was going. I didn’t think I was all that dressed up since I was wearing just what I had gone to work in but perhaps he sees me schlepping around in my work out gear without make up on and in my flip flops on most days so I was actually wearing heels so I looked different? Dunno,…!?!
