When are you suppose to call? Or are you?

Published by hockeychic2003 at 10:36 am under Uncategorized Edit This

I went on like two dates last week with this guy and I think we transitioned from two dates to dating since we started hanging out more or less after our first date.  He has since gone on a business trip and is in the state of New Jersey somewhere and will be there for about a week.  After he gets back I will be going home to NYC for about a little less than a week.  So is he suppose to call me or what? What happens then? I am waiting to see how things play out but I think he should at least send a text message to check in.  I would like to hear from him in some way shape or form just so that I know I am still on his radar screen.   If I was a boy I would at least send a text message a day or two with something like just wanted to say hi and see how things were going because a week is a long time for something that is just starting.  Please, I could forget what your name is by then! (I have a short attention span.) But the other school of though is that it is way too early for him to be calling me at all but seriously? I have low tolerance for these dating scenarios that get dragged out for extended periods of time.  I want to meet someone who wants to get to know me better on a regular basis and going out for dates once a week when you live down the street from one another is not acceptable.  I want a long term relationship more or less and my theory is that if it doesn’t get cemented within the first month then I cut my losses and walk away.  Fish or cut bait is the motto I like to live by.  Granted there are other circumstances that play into it.  For example, in this case it was bad timing–that we met and then he left town and I am scheduled to leave shortly thereafter.  However, I am not rescheduling my trip because of him! That would be too soon for that.  But I chalk that up to perhaps it wasn’t meant to be! I truly believe that there are some things that are out of your control and if you were meant to be with someone you would eventually find yourself with them and things like bad timing don’t get in the way.  You can let things like that become an obstacle or you can work through it.  The no contact for a week is not in my book and indication that he wants to work through it.  But we will see what happens.  I though now even though I don’t mean to am continuously checking my phone to see if I have any missed calls and or messages.  Even if you’re not really that into the guy you just want them to call just because! Anyway,..I will keep you posted to see how this story ends or at least continues.
