Since many of my friends are single and I am also the single gal in the office everyone thinks you have this great exciting life and fun plans for the weekend all the time.  I guess it is part of the whole grass is greener on the other side thing and perhaps people who watch too much Sex and the City episodes but being single is not all it’s cracked up to be and I am sure being married is the same.  I always find it amusing when my sister (who is married) and my other married girlfriends give me advice about dating.  The greatest one is never just date one person at a time! Make sure you’re dating at least two people.  Do they realize that it’s hard enough to find one person you want to date let alone two! Perhaps it was a bit easier when I was in law school but in the working world it is harder to meet members of the opposite sex let alone ones that you want to go out with and who also want to go out with you! I always think in my head I should date someone else so that I have a buffer guy as to not get attached to the guy whom I like.  However, it never actually works out that way.

As to what I do on most Friday nights now a days,… I usually try to keep it fairly low key since I have to get up at like 4:30am to be able to get out of the house by 5:30am when my ride comes to get me to meet our running group which starts at 6am.  Yes,….I know that is a bit crazy but I much rather go running at that hour than any time later during a summer day.  Have you tried going running even at 8 am on a day when it’s hot and humid and it’s already 80 somewhat degrees???? And then the sun is beating down on you??? So as a result my Fridays are pretty lame compared to other  people’s.   That on top of being tired from a long week of work leads to exciting activities like eating dinner and watching a DVD before trying to get into bed by 10:30pm or 11pm.  Happy hours occasionally work but that usually ends up with not eating a proper meal which is pretty bad when you are going out the next morning for a 10 mile run plus the whole being hung over and dehydrated business which is generally pretty miserable.  If I were to ever start dating someone seriously they would have to be okay with the running bit because it is kind of annoying when someone is like why would you do that and oh come on,..stay out later! So far I have met people who at least understand or who do something similar or have done something similar themselves.
